New Chapter

Well Saturday was my last official leading of my house as their recreation therapist. My replacement starts full time today. I will be around, but not in charge! It is kind of a sad thing! The girls wrote me notes and gave me a gift and I just really love them. I am ready for the next chapter, but there is still some comfort in knowing at x time each day I have to be doing x thing…I like that structure. But I have really loved my 3 years working with these teenagers. I have learned a lot about people and families and life and relationships. I am really so grateful for the time I have been given there and the people I have met. I am a much better person because of the experiences I have had.

My coworkers did a special ceremony for me last Tuesday after our big meeting each week. They each said nice things and gave me a nail. Then they uncovered a plaque that thanks me for helping fulfill the mission of New Haven and has a nail stuck in one side of it. Any rec therapist knew what came next… some call it “angels dancing on the head of a pin” but I just call it the “nail task.” Challenge: to balance 14 nails on top of 1 nail in a piece of wood. So I performed this and it’s supposed to remind me of something I can’t remember…but mostly also so I can have others do it when they see my plaque J It was really sweet and I have worked with wonderful people.

Here’s to my new full time job!!!J

  1. I am so excited for you! You are at my favorite point in the pregnancy...you're almost done and you're just on pins and needles waiting for it to happen. It gives me chills just thinking about it!

I hope little Wade decides to come soon! I can't wait to see pictures!
