He is a peach and I love him and his pterodactyl squawk! We are in St. George for the summer and have enjoyed it so far. I am adjusting to motherhood and fatigue, but doing pretty well. Perris says "hey little buddy" every time he holds him or sees him, I usually call him "bubba."
Wade looks like an old wrinkly man sometimes when he raises his eyebrows. He has some gas problems and will cry and cry until he has the explosion he was working towards, then he goes completely silent and is dead asleep immediately. We laugh so much at his funny antics.
Birth was some seriously hard work. I re-watched the video Lyndsey was taking when Wade emerged and when they put him on me- I am gasping and saying "Thank you for coming out!" Then they take him away and I repeat it "ohh thank you for coming out!" I was
exhausted. Giving birth didn't pan out the way I planned, but it was a good experience overall. I had to be induced because of little Wader's heart rate dropping and not climbing soon enough, so pitocin was a part of it, but I still denied an epidural. I'm glad I did, but I was sad all these interventions happened. It is a very fascinating thing, birth. I'll be glad to try it again without the strong contractions pitocin give you. I remember thinking during the most intense moments, "I can't even think "I can't do this" because I
have to do this, this is the only way!" Very intense experience. But Wade is well and we are glad and grateful for that!
I was so glad my Mom could be there. I was worried she'd miss it and it made me very sad to think of that possibility. She was awesome, so was Lynds, and Perris of course! They were all so sweet. I am so grateful to have a little man here, and for the opportunity to help him learn and become a man of God in this life. It is a privilege.
