marriage.
You know, you build a marriage. It doesn't just happen at once. Building never stops. Well, it never should stop, although many choose to stop building and suffer the consequences of that type of relationship, or they stop and walk away from what they have built so far (divorce).
Today I taught a lesson at church about forgiveness, particularly in marriage. I have been studying forgiveness everyday for the month of March and really have been taught this by the spirit:
If both parties are willing to change, can ask forgiveness, and can give forgiveness, any marriage can work and any problem can be overcome.
I really believe it is that simple. (with the guidance of the Lord in there too, of course.) If someone or both parties cannot do one of the aforementioned, it will be very difficult.
I believe this is why we are here...to learn these things and become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ. He forgave all, and of us it is required to forgive all. The love He has for us and the sacrifice He has done for us can heal anything.
This is not my opinion, this is eternal truth.
I really get sad when I see people not understanding this. I really do not know some of their situations, but I still feel like there is a lack in understanding about the eternal truths and perspectives. To say they are happy about separating is, to me, saying "we don't really understand God's plan" and we made promises to each other and God that we're okay walking away from.
Marriage is such a refining experience, and happy experience, I am sorry for those who choose to not make it work.
I am also sorry for those who's partners choose to not make it work, for I know in many cases it goes back to one party not being willing to change, forgive, or ask forgiveness.
I long for all to have the love and happiness that I have felt in my marriage relationship, and the joy that comes as 2 people come together to follow the plan of God.
These are my thoughts, just wanted to share. It's fresh on my mind, and important to me!
